The participants from the Tampines NTUC Active Ageing Centre arrived at Novena Square Tower B in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach, warmly welcomed by a neat row of CPF officers in their distinctive blue attire. The officers stood attentively, spaced evenly to guide and greet us with genuine smiles. We were promptly and efficiently organised into smaller groups, then gently ushered to the lift lobby and onwards to the event hall. Every step was thoughtfully coordinated, making us feel truly valued and well taken care of.

Upon arrival at the event hall, we were delighted to be personally greeted by the young CEO, whose warm welcoming speech set the tone for the day. She invited us to a delightful buffet reception which was just the beginning of what turned out to be a joyful and enriching experience. The atmosphere was lively yet respectful, reflecting the significance of CPF’s 70th anniversary celebration.

The main presentation was conducted in both English and Chinese, supported by clear digital displays on large screens, ensuring everyone could follow easily. The content was thorough and informative, covering key updates on CPF schemes, retirement planning, and healthcare integration. What made the session truly special was the opportunity for face-to-face consultations with professionally trained CPF ambassadors. Each participant received individual attention, and personal queries about their CPF accounts were addressed with patience and clarity. Many expressed happiness and appreciation for the tailored advice, which helped to make complex topics understandably clear.

After the informative sessions, the mood shifted to fun and excitement with engaging game segments. Participants cheered as winners were announced, each receiving thoughtful prizes that added to the celebrating spirit. Throughout the event, snacks and tea were served, allowing us to relax, chat, and enjoy the whole-day event.

The entire event was a testament to CPF’s commitment to serving its members, especially seniors, with dignity, care, and warmth. From the meticulous planning to the heartfelt hospitality, every detail reflected deep respect for the golden generation. We left not only better informed but also deeply touched by the effort put into making this milestone celebration so meaningful and memorable. It was indeed a day of learning, laughter, and connection, truly celebrating 70 years of trust and service in the most special way.

Rooted in the southern Min (闽) dialect, “Huat” means “to prosper” or “to flourish,” while “Ah” acts as an emotional intensifier, transforming the phrase into an energetic outburst of hope. Together, “Huat Ah!” carries the weight of ancestral blessings and communal aspiration which is a sonic spark meant to summon sudden, inexplicable wealth that defies logic and effort.

This phrase is not spoken lightly. It erupts at pivotal moments: the final drumbeat of a lion dance, the last prayer of Lunar New Year rites, or the closing moment of a temple ceremony. It serves as a verbal seal, releasing wishes into the spiritual realm and marking a threshold between ritual and reality. While many chose the window seats, others preferred the aisle. Our leaders acted as guides, directing the coach captain to proceed to the Singapore Zoo in Mandai. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by dedicated officers and their young Managing Director of Komax, who greeted us with infectious enthusiasm and promptly organised us into small groups.

To foster a sense of belonging, they presented each of us with thoughtful gifts and blue T-shirts emblazoned with the word Komax, a simple yet effective touch that made us feel like valued members of their public-listed company. Their hospitality was exceptional; every detail was attended to, making us feel cherished, as though we were esteemed clients rather than guests.

The zoo tour was both educational and delightful. We encountered a wide array of wildlife, from majestic rhinoceros to playful monkeys, each exhibit thoughtfully designed to promote conservation awareness. Along the way, snacks and drinks were provided, and engaging quizzes and games added a joyful rhythm to the outing, creating a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere for all our lovely friends from the NTUC  Health AAC (Tampines).

Beyond recreation, the company demonstrated a deep commitment to social responsibility. They shared their involvement in a community project dedicated to supporting senior citizens, an initiative reflecting their genuine love and care for the privileged seniors. This meaningful contribution resonated with us, highlighting how corporate success can be paired with compassion and service.

We deeply appreciated their efforts to promote happiness and fulfilment among beneficiaries. Their actions reminded us that kindness, when shared, multiplies in impact. As July arrives, the air is filled with the sweet, unmistakable fragrance of durian, its spiky husk glistening even not under the warm sunlight. It seems to welcome the season’s heat with a smile, spreading its rich aroma across the southern border of Malaysia and making its way to our beloved neighborhood of Tampines Changkat on July 5, 2025.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as residents gathered at the Multi-purpose Hall for the annual durian feast. Among the cheerful crowd, Minister of State Mr. Desmond Choo was warmly welcomed, met with enthusiastic applause. Fondly regarded as a champion of the local community at the party, his presence added to the festive spirit, symbolizing unity and shared joy.

Durian, with its rugged exterior and bold character, evokes a mix of emotion, curiosity, excitement, and for many, pure delight. One bite of it transports us to a world of honey-like richness, where softness meets a delicate stickiness that lingers on the palate. Its bold flavor defies the tropical heat, bringing a different kind of warmt, one of togetherness and tradition.

Today, the neighborhood is alive with laughter and chatter, as people of all ages and backgrounds come together, united by a shared love for this king of fruits. Its beauty lies not only in its taste but in its power to bridge cultures, spark conversations, and strengthen community bonds.

Inner peace is often likened to a deep, restorative sleep. Just as a good night's rest rejuvenates the body and mind, cultivating inner peace nourishes the soul. When we find that tranquil state within ourselves, it feels as though we have awakened from a long slumber, emerging into a world illuminated by clarity and understanding.

When we finally achieve this state of serenity, we often realize that it is not merely the absence of conflict or stress, but a profound wisdom that permeates our being. This wisdom teaches us to navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience. We learn to respond rather than react, to embrace rather than resist. In moments of turmoil, inner peace acts as an anchor, grounding us amidst the storm.

From the moment we arrived at the NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Care) on March 7, 2025, Evelyn greeted us with a warm smile that instantly put us at ease. It was evident that she was not just doing her job, but genuinely cared about the people she served. She took the time to listen to our concerns and questions, demonstrating an impressive level of patience and understanding. In a world that often prioritizes efficiency over empathy, Evelyn stood out as a beacon of kindness.

What truly impressed us was her willingness to go the extra mile. After our conversation, she referred us to the Centre Manager, ensuring that we had a comprehensive understanding of the various services available to us. This level of attentiveness made us feel valued and respected, reinforcing the idea that the Centre is not just a facility, but a community hub dedicated to enhancing the lives of its members.
